Making the Invisible Visible: “Drugs Change You”
Client
- Madrid City Council
The Madrid City Council presented us with a major social challenge: tackling the normalization and low perception of risk associated with drug use. Instead of focusing on the fatal ending of “drugs kill,”our strategic proposal aims to reveal those “invisible effects” that occur much earlier—realities that those around the user can clearly see, but the consumer cannot.
With a minimalist and conceptual art direction, the campaign speaks directly to citizens by completing the phrase “Drugs…” with powerful verbs such as break you, isolate you, disorder you or suffocate you. We confront the viewer in the same way the substance does: invading their graphic and personal space to provoke immediate reflection on how addiction affects identity, relationships, and work.
Beyond the warning, the ultimate goal is to reinforce self-esteem and healthy leisure. That’s why the starkness of the messages leads to an institutional closing line that is both bright and empathetic: “Madrid loves you as you are, without drugs”. A cross-channel campaign present in outdoor media, radio, and social platforms, combining creative impact with strategic rigor.
